Some currents of Tibetan Buddhism consider Vajradhara as dharmakaya and Vajrasattva as sambhogakaya source of tantras (while sutras come from the mouth of Nirmanakaya Shakyamuni). The lessons “perfect” dzogchen and mahamudra come directly from Vajradhara. However, others believe that it is not really the Supreme Adibuddha, since the latter, without shape or movement cannot teach. They therefore consider Vajradhara as a manifestation of genuine dharmakaya Samantabhadra. According to a tantra, Vajradhara was produced as a circle of light by Vairocana as it meditated on Samantabhadra in the vajra or “land of diamond.”
