Manjushri is the conscience of bodhisattva perceptive in Buddhism. Disciple of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni he represents a grand wisdom, intelligence and achievement, and is one of the most popular bodhisattvas after Avalokiteshvara. Manjushri is one of Eight Bodhisattvas and the Wisdom of the Japanese Thirteen Buddhas. In Tibetan Buddhism, he is often represented by a trinity with Avalokiteshvara and Vajrapani. Manjushri is mentioned in many of the Tibetan Buddhist sutras particularly the Prajnaparamita Sutra. In Tibetan Buddhism Manjushri is a deity or meditational Tantric Yidam and Buddha fully illuminated.
